Pleasure, joy, fun. These are some of the things fundamental to a great meal & a good life. On a recent Saturday afternoon, I found myself feeling all the (referenced) feels while discovering Zeitlin’s bagels at The Plant Chicago’s indoor weekend market.
My onion bagel was perfection & it brought back the sweetest of sweet memories of the late, great Bagel Nosh.
Zeitlin’s also makes a vegan sourdough focaccia that’s so good it didn’t survive the car ride home. 😂
While Zeitlin’s doesn’t have a brick & mortar, they do markets & pop-ups around town. You can email them for more info. $4 per bagel $10 per large vegan sourdough focaccia. Enjoy!

tamiapple hmmm … initially, I thought maybe you were remembering the Chopin theatre (it’s still there, on Division/at a sort of gateway to Winker Park area), but it wasn’t a former fire house. I will keep thinking about this because it sounds familiar but I’m not remembering at the moment Reply

danielgl I did some Googling and found the article about the fire from 1997!! 🫣 The firehouses really look alike, apparently the city built them to fit into their surrounding neighborhoods. Anywho, it's all history as now it is a Potbelly 😭. Here's the Trib article:

tamiapple They have some really innovative programs, although in addition to those, they also promote hydroponics for people to raise their own fish for food.
It would be great if they were to become fully staffed with people who understand that fish have sentience & that that matters, and program accordingly 1 likeReply
