T’s TanTan is one of the most popular vegan restaurants in Japan and have several branches and products now! I have visited this branch in Tokyo station before (it is located inside the ticket barrier) and there was a queue as usual! On this visit, I went for a set menu which was called the “low calorie set” which consists of the Japanese Yuzu Ramen with konnyaku noodles and 3 pieces of gyoza. T’s TanTan always provides the option of swapping any of the noodles in their ramen dishes to konnyaku noodles which is a lower calorie option. I was very intrigued in the konnyaku noodles but knowing how much I loved regular noodles, I always went with the normal ones but this set made it easy for me to just go for konnyaku. It was more slippery and thicker than regular noodles. It also wasn’t as flexible and soft, they stuck to their wavy shape when picked up. Taste-wise, it wasn’t strong, just tasted like konnyaku and didn’t overpower or disagree with the flavour of the broth. The yuzu broth flavour is definitely different from what I’d usually go for. It was a bit more sour but definitely felt more fresh and light! Although this dish wouldn’t be my first choice, it’s certainly not a bad choice, especially when it’s really hot outside and you just want something light. This set was ¥1,400. If you were to have the yuzu ramen alone, it’d be ¥980.
