VEGAN

Girl Scouts

#girlscouts #chocolatemint

I bought these cookies to support my little niece who’s a Girl Scout on Long Island, New York, USA. Thankfully, a vegan cookie package was available, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought any. It’s very unfortunate that a long-standing organization like Girl Scouts which offers many types of cookies for fundraising isn’t progressive enough to offer more than one type of vegan cookie. And more unfortunate (for me) that it’s not their signature cookie which I absolutely love.. I probably would’ve purchased 10 boxes of that instead of the 2 Thin Mints that I did get. Maybe next year. 🤞

These Thin Mint cookies are delicious, but they’re far from my first choice. If you look at the packaging, the Girl Scouts organization does not go to any great lengths to advertise these cookies as being vegan. Again, very unfortunate for an iconic institution. Hence my very low score for Presentation - hopefully someone from the organization takes note. I’m not normally this critical, but it really bothers me.

On a positive note, I would get these again to hopefully encourage the organization to expand its vegan offering.

sueprozak It’s really great that these are vegan, but I agree with you 💯 % they should be shouting it loud and clear on the packaging and any other advertising they have. Unless…they’re looking at slowly moving people over to these ones from the traditional non-vegan cookies by getting them hooked on how great they are and then sharing the secret????? I can dream, right??? 🌱❤️ 3 likesReply
louisg We’re all allowed to dream. 😊3 likesReply
veganadam According to this, there are two bakeries used by the Girl Scouts.

but they only operate in certain areas. I am no expert here, but I am gonna go out on a limb here and suggest you might not be the only person in Long Island who would like some more vegan choices! 😀1 likeReply
louisg Thanks so much for the information. It’s comforting to know that the Girl Scouts offer several vegan cookies. I should find out what’s available here in Toronto, Canada.Reply
