Review of Spinach / Mushroom Pierogi with a Smoothie at Vegemiasto by travellingweasels

*from our pre-corona travels* We headed to Vege Miasto as they came very highly recommended on TripAdvisor as a place to try Polish vegan food. It was super hot in there and I wished we'd got there earlier - the outside seating looks great. Tanbay and I both ordered the pierogi, I ordered the spinach ones and he went for the mushroom. I found the spinach ones kind of bland and disappointing, but loveddd the mushroom ones - they were slightly vinegary and delicious. Luckily Tanbay preferred the spinach ones so we swapped (hot tip, date someone who has opposite food tastes to you). The pierogi were surprisingly, insanely filling, when they arrived I was worried I would be hungry after eating them, but after eating two I was stuffed. Luckily, they provide you with pots to take your leftovers home so I could finish my pierogi later. Unluckily the pots are made of plastic which sucks, but then that's on me for not bringing my reusable lunchbox. We also had a smoothie which was nice and made me feel like we were in Bali.

Here are some things that we are defo gonna write to (+poke) them about: do they have any organic plant-based meals? We think there would be a market niche for that... like basically anywhere (the legal differentiation of "non-organic" and "organic" produce is basically an euphemism for "poisonous" and "a bit less poisonous"... which is an outrage! All fruit & veg (+any plant-based food) should be organic, everywhere, not just the privilege of wealthy citizens who can afford to buy the more expensive stuff). Also: were the agricultural workers that produced the plants paid well, in a fair trade fashion (and are they employed as wage labourers)? Is the restaurant a democratic workplace (a worker coop)? If you liked my review, you can follow me on @veganvstravel on Instagram or Facebook. I wrote a whole blogpost about vegan restaurants and eating out in Warsaw here:

kkami-sama Hoping to try pierogi someday. I find also important the conversation about access to safe food and sustainability including all forms of oppression/slavery towards workers on the entire chain. Thanks for the point3 likesReply
