pigeonsformiles pigeons are unbelievably amazing birds with the worst rap for no reason. they are incredibly intelligent, clean, loving, affectionate, I could go on and on. pigeons are the first EVER domesticated animal and were abandoned when no longer useful, I feel we owe it to them to right those wrongs. pigeons deserve love too! 🕊️3 likesReply

pigeonsformiles hi! thank you and I'm glad this post made you smile. fun fact, pigeons are NOT wild animals, they are actually the very first domesticated animal ever but with the development of technology in communication and the food system, people essentially abandoned them. it's why pigeons choose to live alongside us in cities instead of moving into the woods, they still rely on and look to us for protection. pigeons deserve respect and love! 💜🕊️1 likeReply
ahimsalivingwellness Indeed! I’m aware of their history, which is part of why I always go out of my way to interact with them in the world. However, considering the fact that they were abandoned quite so long ago as “domestic assistants” and left to re-assimilate into the wilderness (so to speak), I do consider them to be “rewilded” (for lack of a better term)—especially as they now have their own societies which I suspect could easily survive if humans were to disappear from the face of the planet. With that having been said, I suppose that their situations may vary in accordance with geographical location and your experience with them is obviously a bit different from mine (I’ve done bird rescue in the past, but rarely with pigeons). In any case, I love the idea of your project and look forward to learning more about experiences of and with these beautiful creatures! 😊💜💫 Reply
