I felt peckish after working in the Soho area and cut through Chinatown to see
if this #baobun shop had anything vegan. Success. These three plump buns were served up in minutes stuffed full of mushroom, carrot, rice and what looked like a seaweed leaf. They were freshly steamed and made a perfect, light lunch with a hot kickety kick from the sriracha I daubed on the side 😋
I really enjoy the sour taste of the dumpling and the delicacy of the finely chopped veg inside.
They do need some sauce and the options here were sriracha or soy.
I wish they served it on cardboard rather than what seems like a plastic takeaway box and wooden rather than plastic forks. It is a busy takeaway so I suppose they find it more economical to serve everything in takeaway containers. I sat in. There are about 12 seats so you might have to wait a wee while.
The pricing is very reasonable- £7 for these three substantial buns.
