SGD13.8 (exc. service charge and GST)

My first overseas review! Travelling for work right now.

So, here

I was wondering... what should I try while I'm in Singapore. Coming with a Malaysian sense of prices (and a currency 1/3rd as weak 😭), there's a whole bunch of stuff that I felt that I could get a better deal for back home.

eg. Looked up Prive, with an average price of SGD 20.... somehow the mental barrier of >RM50 feels expensive.

Then I happened upon this place. I had just read a review of the Changi Airport branch after I landed, so the name was still stuck in my head.

-Price less than the psychological MYR50? Check (Looking at Prive probably primed me to consider this as relatively cheaper.)
-Something I can't get back home? Check (I have heard of NEXT as the Impossible of Japan, but never tried it)

So ok, decided to give it a try. Served with a side of miso soup and pickles (which were very nice, and I kinda wished I had more of).

The Next Meat was alright. At the first impression, it has the right bite, the right taste (all the marinade that you expect to get, the grilled taste).

But at the next chew, you realise that it is not exactly meat (it doesn't have gristle). Texture had a sort of more uniform soy '豆筋' texture. Which was alright, but bits of it that were not quite as well seasoned tasted more soy-ish.

Overall alright, and I enjoyed it. But I wished that it had more sauce for the rice, and a little more pickles :p.

For Singaporean japanese food, the price is about right. By Malaysian standards? I'm glad I tried it, but my curiosity is sated and I would probably try something else next time.
